The top panel LCD on my D700 is fading in and out. Anybody have a clue why? sometimes I can barely see it unless I hold the camera just right and view the LCD at about 20 degrees off the horizontal. Then it is very clear. Strange.

Probably should upgrade but I like it and it does wverything I want. I can still get the necessary information from the VF.

Sounds like a loose or dirty flex board connection (low voltage or current to the LCD). Are you near salt water? Could be the LCD is failing. In any case sounds like a simple fix. Send it to Nikon for a look.

Just guessing, I'm not an expert.

Hmmm, near salt water. I live about 3 miles from the Atlantic. North Carolina, hot and humid.

Could just be corrosion? Contacts need cleaning..

I've never seen a D700 open, so I don't know what's sealed. Doesn't sound bad.. but I don't know, just guessing.

This should help ... but there is an assumption that you have the necessary skills. LINK
