I overhauled a vintage NIPPON KOGAKU F on last Saturday. I thought this set of pictures might be of some interest.
The slow speeds were off and I ended up replacing the escapement mechanism. Of course I did a complete CLA in the process and that includes lubricating every single screw thread.

Awesome. I keep hoping someone can compile a good DIY-CLA guide for the Nikon F's. Different animal, but finding DIY repair info for my F3s has been like pulling teeth...

Thanks for sharing.
Videos of the shutter gears in action are impressive.

National Camera Technical Training Institute by Larry Lyells . His classic guide for the F was standard learning back in the day. He also did the F2 I believe that was for S.P.T. After working on both for years, the F3 was easy to pick up, the electronics were where most training seminars helped Cand C I think has a great guide.
I cannot remember replacing the geartrain in a F. A good cleaning and relube with neo- lube usually solved speeds issues.

I would be interested into learning the best method to clean and lubricate these escapement geartrains.

Thanks, mike. Unfortunately it seems that Mr. Lyells is no longer around?
