I don't recall ever hearing a rattle before but recently I noticed a sound in my F100. A rattle I can't seem to find easily. The focus screen "looks" to be in place. Mirror is firmly in place. Anyplace else I should look before it's off to repair? This F100 was reported to be in a collector's collection in Japan. Looks like it was never used.

I have an FE2 that I once thought was broken because it had a rattle when I inverted it (and back). Turned out to be some part of the film spool(s). I don't remember which side (film side or takeup side), but put a roll in and the problem goes away (99.9%). I feel foolish because I brought it in for repair when I discovered this rattle. The repair guy nicely took it in, then called me the next day to tell me the camera is in perfect working condition.

Moral of the story: load up a roll then check for rattle.

I had one that the eyepiece dioptre lens had come loose and rattled. I managed to reglue it but it was a total pita to do.

Almost a year later and I realized what you wrote :bang: Looking into the viewfinder I noticed the glass inside was moving a little. Sure enough, that was the source of the rattle. But there is no diopter adjustment though. Everything else seems to work.

I googled F100 rattle or something like that and found this old thread.
