I won a Nikon Photomic Tn (not the FTn version) meter prism on eBay that was advertised as non-working. Got it for $9.00 plus shipping. It arrived today and I tried it out but as stated the meter was dead. That is until I noticed a brownish crust on the ground tab. After cleaning it off I tried again and the meter came to life. After conducting some tests I have determined the meter is reasonably accurate.

I've had a spare Nikon F without prism so this one has found a new home..

Nice find.

BTW, back in the day Nikon always capitalized the "N" on the Photomic TN finder. It introduced Nikon's center weighted metering pattern and was their 4th metered finder and second TTL finder. They didn't use lower case until the "FTn" finder.

Back when I was in high school I had the Nikon F with this particular finder. It never let me down.

I just processed the first roll from this rig and the film is currently drying but all frames look properly exposed..

Which battery do you use in this meter?

Erik.

I modified it by adding 2 schottky diodes inline and then made a battery adapter to use 2 silver oxide 357 cells..

These diodes reduce voltage by .2v per diode which then gives me 2.7v..
