Looking for some advice. Was looking through the photo section of my local Craigslist, when I came across what appears to be an S2 in decent shape. The add says Nikon, camera works, make offer. There are three pictures of the camera. It has a 5cm 2. lens.

Since the ad and pictures seemed like something pulled out of some old boxes in the attic, I emailed an offer of $100. Also I had no idea what model it was, or much of anything about Nikon rangefinders. I recieved a reply stating that they go for around $500. So I guess I won't be getting it for a C note.

My questions are what is it really worth? How much will a CLA cost me? Is there anything unique to this camera I should look for if I decide to up my offer?

Thanks
Steve

$500 is a good price for an S2 and lens in good working condition. If the seller can't guarantee that it works, I would offer half that. Nikons are sturdy and dependable cameras, so chances are it will work and not require a cla. Be sure to check for deteriorated shutter curtains or a faded rangefinder patch. Either would be a deal breaker for me.

My last S2 cost around 100$ off eBay without a lens.

The 50/2.0 goes for around 100$ on its own.

250$ sounds like a solid offer.
