I have the opportunity to purchase a used Nikon S body, but the cloth shutter needs to be replaced as it has holes.

May I ask if this is repairable or replaceable? what is the estimate cost ..

Thanks for your input before i purchase it.

Easy repair, but I don't know the cost.

Nikon S cameras are the least expensive of the Nikon rangefinders ... there's almost always several good working ones on Ebay at any given time. So make sure you're getting a good deal on the camera in its "as is" condition.

It might be a DIY job with something like liquid electrical tape, at least as a stop gap. As Vince says, the price should be reduced considering what replacement by a pro repairer might cost. Maybe email around for quotes before you buy.

I had this done before....The repair job should cost no more than $150 to $175, including the curtain replacement. But as one member said, its possible to patch small holes also(much cheaper).
The camera is a good deal @ $200....I saw a similar one do $350 on Ebay(two days ago). GRAB IT.

I had just now an Nikon S repaired (curtain and shutter adjustment) in Germany . Price was around 200 Euro. However it was not easy to find someone willing to do this.

I wonder whether you have fixed the shutter curtain. Can you share your experience with us. If someone had replaced the curtain for you, can you let us know who, where and how much poorer did you become :) . Was it a good job ?

The shutter problem is common and many of us are waiting for answers.

Hi and Welcome
I had Pete Smith in Florida do a couple of cameras for me. If you are in the USA try him.
