I'm in the midst of swapping a Nikon S3-2000 kit, and in digging out the gear, I'm abashed to (re?)discover some impact damage to the 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-S lens. There's no effect on lens function.
Minor impact damage to the side of the front ring of the lens between the aperture ring and the filter. Trying to remove the filter, the lens front ring unscrews. Even when tightened, the stop detents don’t result in the aperture numbers lining up exactly with the indicator dot.
Question is how much this reduces the value of the lens... and if Nikon USA is a preferred repair outfit for time and cost... good service? Is there another repair outfit that would be as good or better?
This is the only Nikon I've ever owned, so I'm not familiar with the related resources... Thanks for any suggestions.
