Flash setting 1/16-1/8-1/4-1/2- or full?

None unless you want to try the manual mode ('M').
For a starter, just choose the automatic ('A') mode, the right ISO, 'W' (for 18 or 21mm), 'N' (for 24, 25, 28, 35 or 40mm) or 'T' (for 50mm and longer focal lengths), set the tilt value to '45' and see if it works for you.
