As a result of the wonderful images posted here and a little encouragement from Lynn, not to mention the rock-bottom price, I've bought a V1 to take to Thailand for 5 weeks over Xmas. Going digital is a new experience for me as, apart from taking a a few family snaps with a basic p&s, I've always shot film. My camera seems to have the original firmware and I've read that Nikon released a v1.2 and v1.3 is now available. Has anyone here updated to v1.3 and was it worthwhile?

cheers,

I updated to v1.3. Worthwhile mainly for me as it allows continuous autofocus with AFS lenses when using FT1 adapter. Didn't notice anything else much different otherwise, but the procedure was straightforward and caused no problems, so I wouldn't have any worries upgrading to the new firmware.
Great little camera by the way!

Thanks doolittle. I've been doing a bit of research today. It would seem that the changes in v1.2 are more useful to me than those in v1.3. So here's a real newbie question. Would v1.3 also include the changes made in v1.2 or would I need to load each one separately?

cheers,

Camera firmware updates are always comprehensive, AFAIK, including all previous improvements.
