NKK marked lens measurments

Yes and no,Other than the 1964 "Olympic Nikkor" and a couple of of 135mm3.5 examples ALL Nikon Rangefinder Lenses made by Nippon Kogaku are marked in centimeters. This practice continued untill the early years of Nikon F which is early 1960s!
But the above holds true for Nikon mount lenses, there are early Canon and screw-mount lenses marked in millimeters but I believe these are very uncommon.

Hi Kiu,

Thanks for the prompt answer to my query.

I know that Canon dropped the "cm" form of measurement on all there lenses in April 1949 and from then only ever used "mm" on all there lenses.

I know that NKK supplied Canon SKK all there lenses in tubes up until about 1946 and then some more in small batches after that which were intermingled with Canon made lenses on Canon LTM cameras.

My particular interest is the era between 1939 and 1941 and if NKK identified any of there lenses in millimeters, "mm".

Also did NKK ever produce a 7.5cm f/4.5 lens around that period. There is no mention in Bob Rotoloni's book of such a lens.

Yes they did but probably earlier than the years you mention, I would like to point you to a discussion about this on NHS forum:

I suggest you post your question there. As you did;)

HI Kiu,

Only last night I did go into the NHS website and wandered through some of the threads that were going on. You and other Nikon collectors are VERY lucky that you all have an online chat group as well as the NHS club. I would love to have such a thing going on with Canon RF gear but I plod on with my own research.

The camera in question and the related lens that I am chasing information on is in the Canon RF forum

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35528

The lens you included in your above reply I saw in an auction along with a seperate auction for the camera be it a 120 format size, was the lens marked in "cm" or "mm"?. It looked interesting. Anyway I will expound my theory on the Canon forum about where and who made the 75mm lens later on today.
