That is not the collapsible version of the lens, it is the first series in the standard Rigid mount. It is short like that in S-Mount.
I picked up a Nikon M, 1950, with a collapsible Sonnar on it. I'm sure the original owner was annoyed that Nikon discontinued the collapsible lens.

That's a very early rigid 50/2. Less than 1,000 were made in the 5008 serial no. range. 5008 means August 1950. The first batch of rigid lenses started from 50080101.
