Well, not surprisingly, Cosina will release their 21mm f1.4 in M mount:

This is an exciting lens from Cosina, and one noteworthy thing is this is their first VM lens with floating elements.

Wow. And just after the excellent 3,5/21. But a super-fast ultra WA is of less utility than the 50 APO they only released in E mount.

The 21 Nokton for FE was released in last June. So took them 7 months to announce the M mount version.
Since the 50/2 was announced in October, the M version should be around in another 4-5 months, if there actually is gonna be one.

Yep, really hoping they release the 50 APO in VM. An ultra-fast ultra-wide is interesting, but not for me...
Interesting... and large! Here's Cosina's commentary, Google translation:
Koshina Co., Ltd. will launch the Voigtlender interchangeable lens "NOKTON 21mm F1.4 Aspherical VM" in February. The suggested retail price is 150,000 yen excluding tax.
A wide-angle, large-diameter lens that uses a Leica M mount compatible VM mount. The feature is that wide-angle shooting is possible while taking advantage of blur. A lens with the same name for the Sony E-mount has been released, and a VM version that also supports rangefinder linkage will be newly added.
The lens configuration is basically the same as the E-mount version, but the VM-mount version is optimized for Leica M Digital image sensors. The use of an aspherical lens reduces distortion, and the extraordinary partial dispersion glass reduces chromatic aberration. By adopting a floating mechanism, the image quality during close-up shooting is also considered.
It is said that the adoption of a floating focus mechanism is the first for Voigtren rangefinder camera lenses.
The lens configuration is 13 elements in 11 groups. The shortest shooting distance is 50cm. Range of interlocking rangefinder is shortest 70cm.
The minimum aperture is F16. There are 12 aperture blades. The filter diameter is 62mm.
Maximum diameter x total length is 69.5 x 69.7mm. Weight is 480g.
Comes with a plastic square bayonet hood.

Same size as the Leica, 100g lighter, and about 800,000 yen cheaper.
The really cool part about this announcement to me is that they are now putting floating elements in M mount lenses.
How long 'till we see a very nice 35mm f1.4 that is a fraction of the price of the Leica, and smaller than the Zeiss..?

I don’t understand how it is possible to pack half kilo in 7 by 7 cm.

The 4.6 x 5.3 cm Summilux 35/1.4 ASPH (silver) weighs 415 grams.
The 5.2 x 5.3 cm Summilux 50/1.4 ASPH (silver) weighs 460 grams.
The 5.8 x 6.1 cm Summilux 24/1.4 ASPH weighs 500 grams.
The 6.6 x 7 cm Summilux 21/1.4 ASPH weighs 580 grams.
So, it's definitely possible, with either glass or brass. Or both.
I think this Nokton has rather reasonable size/weight for its spec.
