Can anyone tell me how much the CV Nokton 50/1.1 obscures the VF on a rangefinder, especially an R3M or a M6?

Expect your lower right corner to be invisible in the R3M, M6 will be significantly better if it's a .72 finder.
Removing the hood helps a LOT when using this lens.

I use it on M3 (close to R3M) and R2M (same as M6), and those are my conclusions based on actual use. YMMV.

Ken, buy this lens if you really want a 1.1 lens and only then. It's an average (maybe even below average) 50mm lens at other normal apertures. It also shifts, which I've been told isn't as big of a deal on film (it was significant on digital).

Intrusion is purely a function of lens size and VF to lens mount distance, and independent of magnification. It's the same for R3* and R2*, and M3 and M6, respectively. It is different when comparing Bessas vs. Leicas.

I'd say it's pretty awesome at 5.6

All lenses are capable at 5.6. Your photo doesn;t look like 5.6 though. This is the type of photo where it shines (person in focus, background out of focus). However, have some straight vertical lines in your photo with deep depth of field and watch them turn into bows. A great 50mm doesn't really distort at all IMO.

It's always funny when someone has an opinion on a lens and someone pulls out a photo to try to prove you wrong. Any camera and lens combo CAN be magical...but are they consistent?

My point is that there are much smaller better (cheaper) 50mm lenses out there. The only reason to get the Nokton is for 1.1.

NVM got it.
