Finally got a break to get out for a few hours to the Marine Museum at Quantico. One of my favorite places to visit for the History.

Also a good place to compare lenses as the Displays and Lighting is predictable.

Nokton 50mm F1, Wide-Open on the M9.

And at F2,

On the M Monochrom: I used a Yellow Y2 filter on the 50mm F1.1 Nokton. The 50mm F1.0 Nokton has an L37c on it. I ordered a 62mm filter set for the 50/1.0 Nokton.
All shots straight LR6 exports tp Jpeg.

50mm F1.0 Nokton, wide-open.

and the 50mm F1,1 Nokton, wide-open, Y2 filter used for all shots with this lens.

I have never had a problem with focus shift on the 50/1.1. Going from F1.1 to F2 on these shots: did not refocus the lens, held the lens steady while adjusting the aperture 3 "clicks".

50mm F1.0 Wide-Open,

Nokton 50mm F1.0 on th eM Monochrom, wide-open.

And the 50mm F1.1 wide-open. Lighting is harsh in this scene, constantly changing.

Overexposed- I had replaced a red filter with Yellow and forgot to reset compensation.

50/1.0 Nokton wide-open,

On the M Monochrom,

Nokton 50mm F1.1, wide-open M Monochrom.

The Min focus on the 50/1.1 is 1meter, the 50/1.0 is 0.9m. The 50/1.2- 0.7m, but that is for another day.

[Comment on the first two shots.]

I only see differences on the highlights of the machine gun. The f1,0 @ f2 makes them "rounder" than the f1,1 @ f2. @ f1 it makes those highlights rounder too - and also a little brighter. I espected to see bigger differences. The two lenses are close on subjects like these.

[Comment on the later shots.]

The f1,1 makes ovals and circles in the bokeh of the backgroud - the f1,0 does not. However, the f1,0 draws the structure of the tissue of the cap of the soldier - the f1,1 does not. But both lenses are excellent performers. Because the "better" bokeh I have a little preference for the f1,1.

Erik.

I screwed up on the compensation on the M Monochrom on the last shot posted, the wounded Marine on the Iwo Jima display. On the M Monochrom: The CCD and Meter have different response in Red. Using a Red 25 filter, I add a stop with the EV compensation. Forgot to reset it until later.

Both are these lenses are incredible. I like both. Both are great on the M Monochrom, I'll redo some tests when the Yellow and Red filter arrive.

On the 50/1.1 Nokton: as stated before, I had the lens 10 minutes when I built up the RF Cam with one layer of copper tape. The focus is good wide-open, the focus is good stopped down.
The 50/1.0- Just Wow.
Same opinion of the 50/1.2 Nokton, but will test on the next outing- I have a full set of filters for it.
