Does anyone use a 35mm or less focal lenght lens on an M3 without an aux vewfinder? I want to purchase a 35mm Summicron for my M3 but I really don't want to replace the meter on the shoe with an auxiliary view finder or use a dual shoe for the two of them. Comparing the view through an SLR with a 35mm lens, it appears that the field of view is aabout the same was the entire field of view in the M3 finder. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

If you do not wear eyeglasses, it's "about 35mm FOV". I've used a 40mm Summicron on mine, using the entire viewfinder for framing. I wear glasses, which cuts down on the view.

I use a 35mm F/1.2 Nokton on my M3 quite often. I have an external viewfinder, but when shooting at F/1.2, which I do 90% of the time, I don't use the external view finder. I just focus and shoot. I don't find the external viewfinder necessary. I also use the 40 Nokton on my M3, and don't bother using the viewfinder. I only use it for framing a landscape shot.
