I caught this on the Culture Show on BBC2 this week, and immediately had to order it, by Sefton Samuels.

It's a range of photos taken over quite a long period of time of Northern England, places, people -- very interesting, portraits of some famous peeps as well (Sir Matt Busby, George Best, Arthur Scargill, LS Lowry etc.) -- it's really good and highly recommended, mostly black and white photos and a real varied range of topics from down in the pits, to children and bingo clubs.

As a softy southerner I think it's a great little book. :D

Ey up!

Just watched it - pretty good.

I'm tempted by the book. At £9 it's not expensive. Perhaps all us northerners cold chip in and share it. ;)

You still need to get to Manchester Vicky. You could take some Northern pics of your own. Why not come up for Manchester Pride 26 - 29 August 2011 www.manchesterpride.com )? I think we'll all be attending and my exhibition at Real camera will still be on if you would like to see it.

I took a lot of stick while working down south - all in good humour of course. I had to explain what my Lurcher was - much to their amusement when I described it as a bit like a whippet. :D
