Anyone noticed that after the new firmware update that the photos are nosier? I mean even at ISO 320 I am seeing artifacts already?
Or that my M8 sensor is dying??
OK...even worst now...the viewfinder always say 32" when I set the shutter speed to AUTO. And if I press the shutter, it count down from 32 second to take a photo...guess my M8 needs a trip to Solm??

I hadn't realised there was another update, I'm still using the 2.000 firmware which has actually made the camera a far better tool than it was previously.
I'd suggest that it sounds like you may have a problem with your M8 specifically. If Leica had put out a firmware update that was that bad, especially relating to noise, you get bet your life they'd be loads of threads about it.
Can anyone else confirm the benefits and possible drawbacks of the new firmware update?

No- the noise is exactly the same.
The camera will recognize the new Summiluxes and the new 24/3.8, the numbering bug has been fixed, and some delayed shutter recock bug on the M8.2 - that is all. All the rest of the firmware is identical.
For low noise:
1. Don't underexpose
2. Don't underexpose
3. Don't underexpose
4. If needed - Noise Ninja, to get the same amount of electronic reduction that DSLR cameras offer out of the box.
5. Don't oversharpen your output

You need to look into the ROUND window for the viewfinder, not one of the rectangular ones. Also it is better to remove the black cap Leica put on and replace it by a lens.

By 'nosier' do you mean that with this upgrade your photos are more intrusive?
