today while shooting outside with fingers that eventually went numb...i kept hitting that damn q button...i wish there was a way to d/a it!!
other than that the fujis are starting to feel like home.

Not had that problem Joe. In fact it the opposite for me in that I often forget its there and change settings via the other buttons. Just not used to having the Q menu option yet.

I occasionally press the Q button without realising. I remember when the XP1 came out and everyone was raving about the Q button - never used it myself!

The contrary here : i have never pressed it accidentally, and i am using it a lot :). I think it is well placed, unlike the "play" button, that i often mistake for the menu button

I have hit the Q button accidentally now just a few times, usually if I've been frantically grabbing at camera to capture a rapidly changing scene. I was a bit concerned when I first received mine that it was going to be a problem for me as when I'd shoot with borrowed Canon DSLRs. I could never get on with their ergonomics, Nikon was always a better fit for me. I was also glad that I was able to train myself to shoot right eyed in a very short time.

I admit to accidentally hitting the Q button from time to time. A button lock feature would be nice. However this would cause problems when people accidentally and unknowingly lock the buttons and send their camera back for repair. The solution would be to have the option to have this turned on or off. But then people would complain the menus are too complex.

When will camera companies have iOS and Droid apps to let us set up and save operational parameters intuitively?

i hit it when i first got the camera but my thumb eventually found it's way around the back end of the camera...but yesterday, when my fingers were so cold it was like my thumb was just intent on hitting that damn button!
it's those times when i would like the ability to lock it down.
