New York NYC photos - Empire State building

Instead of just posting a load of touristy snapshots of NYC, I thought it better to group them thematically. First theme was: _NYC fire escapes_. I know, not the most likely theme but I like those fire escapes.

The second batch of photos are of or from Empire State building. Mightily interesting building, with an impressive view from the observation deck.

Check my _Empire State building photos_ on my blog.

I'll post more themed photos in the days to come. :)

I assume you like using that Rokkor 40mm lens???

Ooooh YES! :)

It's results are entirely different from the Jupiter-8 50/2, a lens that I love as much as the M-Rokkor 40/2, but sometimes I just have to use a different lens. I've shot with the J-8 for a long time almost exclusively, now it's time for the M-Rokkor. Add the CV 25/4 (or the CV 15/4.5 if I ever get one) for some wide- angle work. Those three lenses + the R-D1 are my main shooting kit.

Remy, really nice images you put up on your Blog! Haven't seen any posts of night skylines for a long time and if someone had to start where better than NYC. Hope you are having fun. Not quite as exotic as Mongolia but NY is exciting. I'll be back at your blog for the next instalment.

When I went when I was 16 I took a disposible up on the building and shot the entire roll. I shot the people milling around inside, shots of me looking up from one of the outside decks, and shots of the city lights. I couldn't wait to have it developed when I got home.

I lost that camera somewhere...possibly on the plane coming home or even before we left the hotel. I think I cried.

NYC did something to me when I was there...transformed my thinking somehow. It just seemed full of possibilities at 16. I want to go back and see if it's still full of possibilities now.

Those are beautiful photos and they seem to capture what I thought was so great about the place. It's so colorful, diverse, and busy. I love it. I want to live there someday and take photos on the streets of Chinatown as a hobby. Thank you for sharing. :)

Thanks for the compliments, y'all.

Stephanie, take the plunge! You're still young and IIRC with few commitments. Take that chance. For me, I was luvky my kid brother paid the trip and has an apartment there, and that my wife let me go for the weekend. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go there.

I'm now preparing a "views of NYC" series for the blog. I hope I can post it this evening.
