This is driving me totally nuts!

I'm scanning some old slides. There is this one scene I cannot place, but there's a building in there that I *KNOW* I should know, but I am drawing a total blank!

This would be 1970s vintage. My recollection is that this is somewhere looking east (southeast) across the Hudson. It may have been taken on a day trip up to Washingtonville. (Tour the winery - {giggle}.) :)

The building I'm thinking of is the one in the inset with the spired tower. I've brightened and sharpened it a bit.

Anybody recognize this scene, building, angle?

Thanks in advance, gang. :)

Hi,
Not having lived in the area around this time I will still make a guess.
You might be looking from NJ/Palisades towards Bronx/Yonkers citylimits.
The three winged apartment building would be on the Bronx/Riverdale side.

Thank You!

Thank you! That's exactly where it is. I just zoomed right in on it from Google Earth! The three highrises and the tower are still there.

If you (or anybody else) care, here's the area:

I was looking more upstream, between Yonkers and the Tappan Zee.

Glad I could help.

Friends of mine used to live in one ofthe three apartment buildings.

Thanks again. :)

If you turn on the "street view" in the Google link I posted, you can practically look into their window! :) They actually have the area fairly well covered in the street view.

OBTW, the building that was stumping me is Mount St Vincent College. I was thinking a bit more upstream. :) The building with the spired tower is clearly shown here:

Scanning these old slides has really brought back some memories. Amazing that some of the Ektachromes have survived quite well. Others have faded, some in the cyan direction, some in the magenta direction.
