NYTimes: 25 Photos that Defined the Modern Age

Mike Johnson over at the Online Photographer had a different take on these -- more like a critique of the types of images shown. I was focused on how those picture made me feel, not whether I agreed with their rankings. ;) But anytime you can move your viewer, something real is happening in the image. And we all see so many pictures every day that do not move us. . . so it is nice to be reminded that they can do so.

Can't see except four images. It wants to login.
If those experts didn't include Russian White House been shot by tanks, this selection has zero value.

I think it depends what you expect - the intro is clear that it’s a subjective and on the day. Plus, knowing the NYT, I expected it to be more American focused and different to what I would choose. Up front there is the statement that when they talk about shaping/reflecting the world they are, effectively, focused on the US and changes in US society since the early days of the civil rights movement.

All this is entirely what I would expect of the NYT and I found it super within those confines. I will read Mike J’s view of course.

It doesn’t, but it isn’t actually pretending to be. A world focused selection, so much as US centres view. They even apologise to Canada;)

There have been (are being) too many years that the "states/medias/societies/people" have been (are being) totally navel-centrist... and that's how things are going... we (humans) don't learn from our history. Here we go again... once again, and again... as someone wrote a lot of centuries ago, "nothing new under the sun".
