O/T: 90mm f/1.0 -- but from guess-who?

Looks as if it blocks the viewfinder, so I think I stay with something slimmer 🙂

I know zippo about this lens but isn't it possible, from the writing on those two rings in front of the lens, that it ONLY focuses at 20m and 100m? Otherwise, since it's a Canadian lens, it's worth every penny. No problem. Since it utterly obliterates the viewfinder, just use it on an MDA....(not).

Where do they get this stuff??

Ex-military stuff. ELCAN (E. Leitz Canada) made lots of stuff for the US and NATO forces for surveillance work. Some things like the 180mm/3.4 Apo R lens made their way into commercial production, but some like this beast did not.

I find the 90mm/2 M lenses a bit heavy for my taste. I wonder how much this one weighs. I bet without the focus rings the lens is set to infinity.

Well, I guess a Visoflex isn't so superfluous after all...

Then again, that screen on the back of an RD-1 or M8 should come in pretty damn handy with this number.🙄

I've got a Kowa 90mm f/1.0 (among other high speed glass). Maybe I should get these folks to sell it for me? Or maybe I should just put a Leica mount on it and eBay it myself. I've converted alot of glass recently to f-mount but it seems the Leica folks got alot deeper pockets. 🙂

Hey James--where did you ever find all of those lenses?! 90 f/1, 68 f/1, 62 f/0.75, 42 f/0.75...wow. That's speed if I've ever saw it (except for that one Ferrari...🙂)

I doubt it, Jano. The "thingy" is a Visoflex, and the front lens would be so front heavy you couldn't hold it manually. Besides, they didn't have an M-mount, but a screw; in fact, the front of the 2nd version Summicron 90 can be unscrewed for use with a Visoflex.

Now... where did I leave my checkbook? 😕
