Someone must think or know it is a "half-race."
Anyone we know?

Well, you must admit that "the alligator skin covering is perfect in all details!" (alligator skin?)

Trying to find my range
Whenever I see low bidder numbers hitting an item several times, I just assume it's the seller's friend shill bidding the item for them.

Watch that step!
That`s a very rare 1946 "Half Race" - (note the inverted instruction plate, that`s only on the 1946 models another interesting fact that makes them unique - that`s not a CLA mistake, but a factory one)
The selling price was a tad bit high on the US market value, (and my max offer would have been around $450 - I`m more in the market for a IIIC K now) but this camera had a high reserve (I think $500)
and that`s what they are selling for in Europe with an original lens $500 to $600 - this one was pretty nice, but I have seen better - this camera sold to Spain, so the price I feel is in order for the European collector, I paid $500 for the mint minus one that`s in my avatar
85% of all surviving 1945/46 Stepped Rewind platform cameras are IN the USA - all as GI "bring back" cameras - ex-US Army etc. etc.
so expect to see (if any) of these era cameras come up for sale here rather than over there, especially the 1946 model (all cameras that are post #3969xx production)

Thanks for the info, Tom. I had a feeling it was a half-race. It falls within the serial# range you posted a while back.
