Hi,

Reading some very elderly magazines recently I've identified a gadget as a 30's bulk film loader. The "Miniature Camera Magazine" article of December 1937 shows and approves of it and says it was the first. Sommor were like R G Lewis and others who made bits and pieces for Leica and Contax users.

It came and was sold in two parts the magazine and the cassette holder. I hope it obvious why...

The bulk magazine is in two obvious parts and can be opened after the two knobs with "Made in France" on them have been removed. To my surprise there was still a lot of "Ilford Micro Neg Pan" film in it.

The cassette holder has a large knob on it and turning it opens and shuts the Leitz FILCA cassette. You can see the letter "O" for open in one of the pictures and also the table showing that 30 turns of the handle gives 36 exposures. Obviously you then turn the knob to "F" for "Ferme" and shut and remove the cassette.

My one differs slightly from the one in the magazine and is probably not the original 1937 version.

Regards, David

PS (EDIT) Apologies for the typo in the title but I can't correct it now.
