Oly XA2 - RIP, wimper wimper

My beloved XA2 seems to be destined for the trash heap. I posted earlier about it being stuck on self timer. Seems to be a rather common problem with these cameras (XA2's anyway). Last night I took it apart (removed base plate) and disconnected the wires running to the self timer, battery check PC board and alas, still beeping.

It's the XA2 cry for help! Or maybe it's last gasp(ing) LOL. I suspect there may be an IC issue or some other component that has failed but is buried far deeper into the camera than I want to dig.

To bad I really enjoyed the XA2. Oh well.

The 2 is pretty cheap on eBay at least. I paid about $24. Got another at the thift store for $20.

Why not look for an XA3 as a replacement?
Camera could be slightly younger than an XA2.

It's a great shame when a faithfull 'friend' gives up the ghost!

Actually when I have some spare cash I will replace it with an XA. The lens on the XA2 is awesome, but some say the XA is even better. Oh well.

i feel for u, but at least replacements are easily available. for backup, one must get at least 2 of them XA series. 😉

I have both and they're not interchangeable.
The XA2 is a terrific grab shot camera.
The XA is great but a bit fussier to use.

You can always send it off to John @ zuiko.com for repair -- it's not the cheapest option but you'd get a camera back that you can rely on and will be like new.
