Hello
Picked up a very nice Olympus 35SP on Ebay. Does anyone use a screw in 49mm metal lens hood on this camera and if so what make and size(ie length) so it doesn't block out the viewfinder.if anyone has an original square lens hood i'd be interested in buying it although they are probably using it themselves.

thanks

It is a good idea to use a hood with the 35SP because the lens (which is excellent otherwise) flares easily.

I use a regular round metal hood. It is true that it blocks an angle in the viewfinder, but I can live with it (it happens with most RF cameras anyway).

There are some "horizontally cut" or "flower" designs that do not block too much the viewfinder, you might want to try some of those.

I have never seen the original square hood you mentioned, but then I'm far from an expert. As hoods are not very expensive anyway, you might want to visit a photo store and try different types. 49mm is a common size.

I just picked up an SP with it's original lens hood included. Surprisingly it's a simple 49mm screw-in hood, made of plastic. When not in use, it can be flipped around and slipped over the nose of the lens somewhat snugly. It does obscure then viewfinder a bit, but not enough to complain about.
