Hey RFF!

I picked up a Pen FT at All Good Friend camera, a great store in Hong Kong. It's a little dinged up, the viewfinder is full of gunk but you can still see through and focus, and you can't access bulb. But he speeds are accurate, the camera operates beautifully, and the glass on the lens is great. I paid pretty much only for the 38/1.8, the body was more or less a back cap that takes film and produces photos!

If the camera works alright I'm hoping to change the leather up a bit. The leather on it now is fine. I just thought it'd look nice with Aki Asahi's Flat Camel. They don't have a Pen F template on their site, is there any other option for Pen F leather with a similar color?

Here's a photo of the camera in question 🙂

The Pen F/FT/FV design has always been once of my favourites... even if my astigmatic eyes make it harder to focus a SLR, not to mention a Half Frame SLR, I had to have one 😛

Camera Leather has a Pen F/FT in their line up.

However......

There has been mixed reviews of his service on these forums. Some have rceived fast and good service while others have paid their money and got nothing.

It is up to you.

If you remove the self timer lever you can remove the top with a few screws and clean the viewfinder. If it was mine I'd remove the self timer mech altogether and lose the meter and replace the half mirror with a full surface one. The meter was a "transfer the reading" type and not fast to use anyway.

Thanks for the heads up on that self timer thing Zuiko! I might just do that... but I'm afraid to touch the mirrors!

Stephen, I'm not too worried about the resale value... the camera itself needs a ton of work to be considered good enough to sell! The stock leather has grown on me, though... but I think I'd like to see it in Aki Asahi's Flat Camel.. I really enjoy that color!

For oddball cameras you could get a ladies purse or jacket from a thrift shop & cut your own. The leather used is about the thinnest available unless it purpose made.
