Bingley: Thanks. After 41 views, you are commenting! The XA is a great camera in a very small package. I usually use it with XP2, but here, I used color film instead.

Nice photos. Sometimes the best thing about an XA is that it is there to take the photo, because it is so small and light. Mine is really growing on me.

When I spent six weeks in Japan a few years ago, I had always the Olympus XA in one pocket and the Minox GT in the other. I never missed a shot. Both cameras were perfect for taking candid photos in the subway and on the streets.

By the way, your XA2 has an equally good lens, but has zone focusing.

Raid -- I have admired the portraits of your beautiful daughters for quite some time! As for the XA, I am the original owner of mine (purchased in the early 1980s at 47th St Photo in NYC), and it has never failed me. It captured the birth of MY daughter in 1987, and has been a faithful companion and recorder of events in my family ever since. And it's still going strong. I like to use color in mine, but then I tend to lean toward color anyway. An XA and 400UC is a great combination! Even though I now have other cameras, the small size and excellent lens on this little guy usually ensures its place in my pocket (or my camera fanny pack).

Raid, thanks for reminding me of the XA. I have to travel on business matters two days next week, and I was wondering what camera I could fit into my briefcase - I had forgotten the XA1 in my wife's camera bag.
And - there is no finer use for a camera than to take these happy family photos. And being recorded on film, there is a good chance your grandchildren will enjoy them too.

My XA is practically mated to XPS Super 95% of the time. It is a perfect film speed and type for the XA in my opinion. Nobody takes such a lens seriously, so it becomes easier to take candid photos of family members.
I share with my family overeseas the family photos all the time. They email me photos of their children and I email them photos of mine.
I point to photos stuck on the refrigerator, telling my daughters "this is your uncle" and "this is your aunt", and of course, the kids don't know yet who these relative are.
