... I renew my demand that a manufacturer produce a full-frame compact camera (like, as I've said before, a Konica Hexar AF).

The renewal is hot on the heels of my test-drive of a Nikon D700: a big, loud, unwieldy, clunky camera-beast, which I don't like one bit. Don't like one bit, except for the photos it can turn out.

Both at ISO 12800 (a very slight touch of noise-reduction on the colour shot, because I didn't like the colour noise in part of the shadow under his chest. I'm sure I wouldn't have liked the result there in film at 1600, either).

Back to the KHAF and some TX.

As I've learned more about rangefinders and older film cameras I've discovered how many great compact cameras there have been. Today, the focus in digital compacts is on megapixels and features. Not high quality -- compacts for serious photographers. Except for the Sigma DP1/DP2 there are none. The Ricohs are nice, but too tiny a sensor. I'm with you - bring'em on.

All Andrews here?

And I'd pay well for one, too: a couple of grand would be worth it.

As for the Sigmas, well, they look only half-serious to me. Add-on finder, slow, no really high ISOs.
