...can deliver...

so i bought the kiev 4am from ben and a few days later i bought a zorki 4k from ben too.
the kiev was sent and then the zorki, days apart.

guess which one was left freezing by the front door today?

the zorki seems like a pretty nice camera, solid, fairly smooth, this body is clean and abuse free. of course the lens is still a bit frozen.

looking forward to playing with it.

oh yeah, looking forward to the kiev being delivered soon also...

Maybe the Kiev was marked "AIRMAIL", so they decided to fly it around the world first :).

I'll really laugh (you won't) if I end up with Ben's other Kiev before you do.

you laugh and i'll cry, after a good strong rant!;)

i expect the kiev to be sitting at my front door when i get home tonite...oh please...

The Canadian PO does seem to be slow. I've bought a couple of things from Henry's and Merkle Camera recently (both I think in Toronto) and they took ages to arrive. :(

Canada Post has not bad service inside Canada but if an item has to cross an international border the wait can be quite long waiting for it to clear.

Canada Post seems to be getting more and more expensive, too. I'm always stunned at how much a small international parcel can cost. I sent a small box with a book in it to Malaysia and it cost $30!

I think they are just trying to catch up to the European countries. The postage over there is high like the gasoline. Just trying to look on the bright side. Yeah, postage costs sure hurt.

I just did a trade with a fellow RF'er in Ohio. His package was USD$1.85, mine was almost CDN$6-. The items were the same size.

Hehe... complaining about the post office is universal :) Our service is lousy too ( just ask Joe ), we just pay more for the privilege....:).

I just got a CV 50/2.5 from an RFF member and it cost me another $40 customs charge when I picked it up from the Post Office!
I am on the lookout for a CV 25/4 Snapshot lens but will have to take this charge into account next time.

Canada Post is expensive and wildly unpredictable. Not long ago I purchased two different lenses: 35mm Ultron 1.7 from New Jersey, then about a week later a Zuiko 50mm 1.4 from UK. The Zuiko came within a week. Almost three weeks after the delivery of the Zuiko, the Ultron finally arrived, though the Ultron was shipped a week earlier. Go figure ...

Joe, be patient it does eventually show up. On the positive side think how much anticipation has developed. I now get all my stuff delivered to my workplace. Canada Post has to deliver then. No doorstep delivery or note to pick up at the Post Office because I wasn't home to accept delivery.

Gene , stuff comes in from the UK like a rocket. I ordered 3 books , one from the UK, one from Victoria BC, one from MA. the books came in in that order all ordered on the same day. I think everything coming in from the US is filtered. Almost every package from the US has been opened by Canada Customs.

I have a couple of things now 2 weeks later none are here, Belgium, Pennsylvania and Manitoba. I'll see who arrives first

Canada Post, USPS, UPS, etc.....at least I haven't heard of packages being opened and things stolen. My parents always pray when I send a package to them in Russia;) Some Russian postal workers are quite nosy...as well as you apartment building neighbors.
