I have a project next month that requires a low profile.
My plan is to pick up a Lumix lx3 as all submits for the client will be web posted only and I need small size. Cameras are otherwise prohibited at the 3 day event. The silver version of this camera is available for about $100 less than the black. In this day of mostly black cameras. Do you think a silver one looks less like a fancy high dollar model? Likely I will also use it extensively at Burning Man which is known to destroy digital cams with dust (the "playa"). In other words. This cam may have a short life and therefore the $100 saved is worth it. I normally choose black bodies fir rf ir SLR. What do you guys think. Should I save the buck or will the color draw attention more than black. BTW this will be my first digi P&S since buying a coolpix 8400 6 years ago. Any other suggestions are welcome. Mstly I'm set on having RAW capture and at least a 28mm equiv. Lens.

Cheers
Andy

Great camera, I have one of each color. As with so very many questions asked on this forum, the answer is, "you know your situation better than anyone here, only you can really decide."
Also you can always get the silver one and a can of black spray paint.

If the clients are going to be at the shoot, black, if no, silver.

Your clients might expect a "professional" look to your gear and traditional, black cameras are the icon of a pro. Think of the $100 extra as money invested in self-promotion, just don't share with them you bought it special for the shoot.

Otherwise, who cares what the box that made the pics looked like? Images and good working relationships are what count most.

My 2¢.
