Thursday, for the surface of the steel bar. The car fragment is big enough to identify the subject and to show clearly the nature of the situation. But the keeping element is the steel surface. The light on the car´s hub cap is great too. The two metallic shining surfaces bring a good contrast to the streets gritty, scratched surface.
The light in the Thursday picture brings life to the surfaces but doesn´t compete with the forms and textures. The shadow in the Friday picture is a subject of its own.

These comments are exactly what I'm looking for: education! Thanks. More!

Shaken, so blurred
Hmm. I guess I just don't "get" street photography!

I prefer the right one, as it's more clear as to what it is, which appears to be abandoned trolley tracks peeking through the pavement.
Looks like something out of Forgotten-NY.

street photography as its bests eh?
I always like road textures, but the first one is too static and I don´t like neither the shadows nor the car on the second.
I think I would like the first one with no car at all. ha!
