OT: Repairer for 35mm Rollei?

I have one of those weird and cranky Rollei SL2000F 35mm modular cameras from the 1980's. Anyone in particular that anyone knows of in the U.S. who does repair/CLA of 35mm Rollei's (and associated lenses), especially these cranky electronic ones. Thanks.

BTW, the last two referrals for repair from RFF members worked out fantastic (i.e., DAG for Leica and Greg Weber for Konica).

Harry Fleenor at Oceanside Camera is considered to be one of the best. He has worked on my SL66's and my R35 cameras.

I hope you didn't use alkaline batteries in the camera.

Thanks for both of your suggestions. I have heard about this problem with using alkaline batteries and for that reason haven't. Yet I still have never understood why it is in fact a bad idea. Why is it?

It costs about $300 to fix the damage if you use alkalines in the SL2000F. The electronics can't handle alkaline batteries.

The first problem is that the ISO info on the film cartridge doesn't communicate with the camera. The camera meters at about ISO 80 all the time, regardless of where I put the ISO dial on the cartridge. The second problem is that I just don't trust that the camera accurately works. I also have a Zeiss/Rollei 25mm lens that has sticky aperture blades.

Look at the contacts where the back and body connect. Is one of the contacts dirty or damaged? Check with a shop that repairs Contax SLRs and see if they can clean your 25mm Distagon.

You might try turning the ASA selector switch 15-20 times to clean the contacts inside the switch.
