In 1957 my future godfather was sent to Pakistan (Karachi), by his employee (Hispano Suiza Netherlands)
Recently a photo book was found with pictures from this period. And I was totally surprised to find a lot of street pictures.
I decided to scan them. But since there are 200+ pictures, it's gonna take a while.

That is a great archive, you must be very proud!
In 1957
Its funny how little does change in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan.
If you´d post these as pictures from your recent trip, no one would notice.

Pretty cool that he worked for Hispano Suiza, too. Did he happen also to leave a car in your care?

BTW, this quality is stunning, as he's scanning them from 50 year old prints..

Imagine how awesome 50 year old digital files would look. Just like new!

Doubtful.. droplets of inkjets tend to harden with time and are prone to fall off partially.
Nothing can substitute a layer carrying the "information" impregnated into/onto a medium, be it fiber base or resin coated.

probably he meant real digital files (which anyways could be unreadable after 50 years because of let's say windows 30 or damaged CDs/HDs)

Hahaha, that would be awesome. But the fact is, that the Hispano Suiza factory in the Netherlands was a weapons factory. Makes you wonder, why the went to Pakistan.

I apologise on behalf of the RFF community for what is about to happen to this thread.

I've no indication at all on the film that was used. We never found any of the negatives from that time. They're printed on Agfa paper, and we've found Agfa negatives from different times. So my best guess is Agfa.

Not a bad idea. And that way I would also have a place for the other paper-work that I have. (tickets, menus, flightplan, letters)

These are really lovely! A window into a different time and place, and yes, they look modern, but I don't think of it as much as unchanging underdeveloped countries (I don't think that's true) but more that there is a clearly modern aesthetic to some of these shots. Either that or street photography, and the underlying rhythm of urban life, is more or less constant. All interesting ideas that popped into my head as I looked at your image. Very cool, please keep sharing them and, I agree, a photo book is in order!
