One or two reviews what back when suggested the ISO 400 is the most noise free .
I had always understood that pushing the sensor creates more mush.
Pics are fine at 400 but I am just a not that picky .

Any advise as to how this could be - sensor optimised for a specific ISO ?

,

I have just read a complex article explains that digital sensors are optimised for a specific ISO to ensure that dynamic range is at best, even that cameras would have stated the optimum ISO setting .
Also that reduceing the ISO setting would marginally impact upon IQ .
It seems that 4/4rds with smaller sensors were seen to be more affected by this especially. decade ago .
I would be grateful for any more info .
