DPreview lists an announcement from Panasonic that they are now making M and R adapters to work on their G-series cameras, complete with the zooming manual focus feature. I know that you can call up the zooming manual focus feature by pressing the shutter button while focusing with any manual focus lens, but it would be nice if it worked like it does with Panasonic's lenses in which the zooming feature pops up as soon as you touch the focus ring on the lens. I can't see how that could be transmitted in this case, unless it uses a mechanism like focus detection on a Nikon or Canon slr body with a manual lens mounted to call up the zooming focus.

Does anyone currently have an adapter that does this? Or is this feature new?

I think all they are doing is mentioning that the manual zooming feature in the G1 can be used, and this is mis-interpreted as being an automatic function made possible by the use of the Panasonic M/R adapter (so not like using Olympus Four Thirds lenses via the DMW-MA1 adapter). I could be wrong, but I think these are nothing more than Panasonic's version of the already available aftermarket adapters and with no electronics in them at all.
