Paramount studio is the first major studio to stop Major Release Movie releases on film. Other studios are expected to follow. The US movie theater has been on a digital upgrade for at least 3 years. Now many US theaters no longer have the capability to show a movie on film. Digital releases save studio distribution costs.

While this will affect film stock production, it will may also affect classic film showings. IF a seldom shown classic film has not been converted for digital studio release, this may give new life to small theaters catering to the REAL FILM experience. Time will tell.

It's a disturbing sign of things to come. Some directors vastly prefer film, like Christopher Nolan, although the trend is towards less and less film being used in the movie industry. Fujifilm is out of the game, and Kodak is the only player in that area at the moment.
