Perhaps a TLR Forum?

There seem to be many folks among us who own a TLR in addition to their RF cameras, and they generally end up posting about TLR's in a non-TLR thread.

As these cameras are classics in their own right, perhaps the moderators could see their collective way bend the rules a bit and establish a TLR forum.

Lots of interesting cameras, to be sure. Rolleiflex, Rolleicord. the Mamiya TLR series with interchangeable lenses, Minolta Autocord, Yashica 124G, and many others.

Gee, from my short time here it seems like that head bartender guy isn't much for rule bending.

Maybe we need a very good-looking smooth-talking blonde on the other side of the bar?

Stephen G did mention that RFF could evolve. TLR's are a classic photo apparatus just like RF's.

I'd argue that TLRs are also mortal enemies of SLRs, so the enemy of my enemy...is my ally? I'm not really being serious (actually I find that all my cameras, regardless of type, get along just fine in the camera cabinet). But I'm sorta serious: RFs and TLRs represent very different ways of approaching the subject and I suppose quite a few of us that shoot RFs also shoot TLRs. Maybe the same amount or more shoot SLRs, but hey, there are lots of forums for that. Last I checked, however, .tlrforum.com wasn't that popular. Long winded way of saying, I think it's a good idea.

tlrforum.com...sounds good to me!

anyone want to start a forum?

Yeah .......... but there'll be no cussing farting spitting chicken strangling etc etc ... no immoral acts whatsoever! Moderators will be armed!

Your point about TLR's being mortal enemies of SLR's is well-taken. Stephen Gandy might find that attractive, especially if we all promise to buy something from Cameraquest in the next six months.

I'm thinking one of the Bessa 4M's....

I really like our TLR talk, but I don't think there should be a forum for it. Perhaps a more organized underground movement making TLR talk the On topic topic in the Off topic forum, or anywhere, but not everywhere. A valued rebellious undercurrent.

And a Nikon F is a classic too, just one lens short :)

But is an Epson RD-1 a classic?

I'm all for a place to discuss TLRs where I'm not going to get clobbered for a off-topic posting. Whether TLRs are the "mortal enemies" of SLRs I don't know; I do know that the one-lens approach to shooting (with the exception of the Mamiyas) is about as pure as you can get -- like a fixed-lens RF.

Plus, they're just plain cool!
