The thread about Martin Parr made me want to make people aware of this exhibition currently on in London: Peter Mitchell: Nothing Lasts Forever
It's pretty extensive, covering a few of his projects. I largely subscribe to Henri Cartier-Bresson's view on colour photography (Henri Cartier-Bresson is recorded as once telling Eggleston: "You know, William - color is bullshit."), and the work of folks like Martin Parr has never interested me in the slightest. But Mitchell's stuff impressed me enough that I bought the book of the exhibition on the way out; there's a sense of humour and humanity in it all, coupled with the inevitable degree of sadness in documenting part of England as it disappears.
The exhibition runs until the 15th of June, and admission is totally free after 5pm on a Friday.
