I've been using a Pacific Image PF 120 Pro scanner for 35mm & medium format for about six weeks. Bought it brand new, shipped direct from the company. This morning, I scanned six or so 35mm negatives. Switched to scan some 120 (6x6) film. Scanner made a grinding noise, so I shut it off, removed the film carrier, and restarted the scanner. I had to force quit the scanner software (vuescan on a Mac), because it froze. Now, when I restart, the scanner makes the same grinding noise briefly, then begins whining, like a motor spinning free, and the power/progress light on the front of the scanner flashes rapidly. I unplugged the scanner completely (power and usb3 cable) but the problem persists. Has anyone heard of/experienced anything like this and what was the result? I'm at my wits end. Thanks in advance.
Addendum: Also, I now can't get the 35mm carrier to lock in the scanner. It just slides straight through and doesn't catch on the stops.
Here's the last (successful) scan before the problem started
