this has been a great weekend for reading photo books.
first, leo fuchs' "special photographer". guy gets cameras. guy talks his way into nightclubs and movies. guy makes living as studio/special photographer. guy gives up photography for film production. guy dies. guy's son gets photo and journal archive. guy's son produces spectacular book.
i love this book. the photos are gorgeous, the stories are tremendous and the subjects all very intimate.
linda mccartney's "life in photographs". i was very pleasantly surprised at how engaging most of the photos were. not set pieces, very intimate, very clever but not too clever.
eggleston's catalog at christie's. it's a nice book for $40.
