I have several M42 mount lenses used by my husband for recording his professional archaeological surveys & excavations. I have no idea of their value, if any, nor how to fairly value them or sell them. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.IMG_0840.jpegIMG_0832.jpegIMG_0841.jpeg

Checking E-bay the Panagor lens is not going to be worth very much at all - most likely less than $30.00 US.

The Pentax Super-Takumar 35mm F3.5 lens would probalby be worth more but the condition would be very important.
Hopefully, some Pentax users/collectors will chime in with some insights.

The Panagor was/is an inexpensive off-brand lens.
The Pentax 35mm f3.5 is very sharp lens but also sells for as little as $40.

Thanks for your responses. It would appear the lenses will sell in the $20-$40 range.
Is there an on line site devoted to vintage photography equipment? I have more lenses, electronic flashes, a tripod, 2 grips, a timer, a Pentax meter and a teleconverter. Not being a photographer myself, I have no idea how to even begin. It would seem most of this equipment should be useful to someone.

There are photo forums, but Ebay and Facebook Marketplace are the places to sell.
I'd suggest FB Marketplace.....Ebay has fees and then you end up shipping. These days most people shoot digital....so electronic flashes gather dust. Small accessories really become give aways. Another thought is to see if there's a photo club at Lethbridge College.....& donate the equipment?

Hello 38Deardorff,

Thank you…that idea had not occurred to me! I just thought some of the equipment would be of value to someone who knows how to use them. I’ll look into donating to Lethbridge College.
May I draw on your expertise and ask if you think it’s worth the effort of trying to sell the lenses or simply donate them also?

Do eBay. Facebook will bring you a bunch of sketchy time wasters that want to meet locally. Sounds dangerous. eBay will be real buyers who will pay the shipping and be fast. There is a dedicated Pentax forum but ebay will still be a much wider audience.

I've given away a number of cameras and lenses to members of my Daughter's youth group that express an interest in photography. These are good lenses for a starter- similar to what I used in High School 50 years ago. Believe it or not, 50 years later- some of the kids get really excited by manual focus film cameras and lenses.

Hi Jbennett68,
Thank you for your wise words. I just worry that some equipment will not be satisfactory for resale. I don’t want anyone to feel cheated

Unless you need the money it may be more trouble than it’s worth and you might consider donating. Not sure what meter you have but it’s possible if it’s one of the Pentax spot meters that’s it’s the most valuable item in the lot.

JB.... The OP is in a very small rural town (pop 800)....to sell a few $40 items on Ebay is more trouble than it's worth. Less than an hour away is a bigger town w a college. FB Marketplace might bring interest from rural southern alberta...... for pickup only.....

Many thanks to each of you who have provided tips & advice. Everything I have is on Facebook Marketplace, but I fear they are overpriced and I will need to remedy this issue. I will definitely contact Lethbridge College & perhaps other organizations in an attempt to donate whatever I am able to provide. Your assistance is much appreciated!
