I have read about photo retrieval software before but have never had a need for it until tonight. Could someone recommend software for retrieving photos from an accidentally re-formatted SD card? Thanks in advance.

I have recovered photos with Sandisk Rescue Pro (came with an Extreme III card), but not sure if it would work if the card has been formatted (you might be lucky if it was a quick format method).

Thanks guys. My wife tried to upload photos from her camera to iphoto. When she pressed the "upload and delete originals" button, the program crashed and, when she got it up again, she couldn't see any files on the card. I made sure that she didn't do anything further (i.e. write any new photos to the card). So, from everything I have read, the photographs should most likely be retrievable. I appreciate the suggestions and will see if I can get her photographs back for her.

There is a bunch of freeware software at Snapfiles and I have found much of the software on that site to be pretty good.

Try some of these and see how you get on.......................................................

This software claims to be able to recover files from formatted cards : Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery

I cannot recall if I have tried this specific one or not but I have certainly recovered some erased files from a card using software downloaded from this site.
