I found a download on the European Epson site for PhotoRAW 1.21 standalone and plug in versions for Windows. I do not find these on the USA site.
I downloaded both but neither install successfully. The installation starts (i.e., asks for my language), flashes a couple of screens at me, and then dies. I've tried this on a couple of different PCs.
Anyone know the secret to get this to work?

The stand-alone version should install without hitch. It did on my laptop. I assume the PS plugin needs to be installed in a certain (PS?) directory before PS will find it.

I wish that was the case for me...
What is the name of the plug-in file?
What folder did you put it in for PS to see?
Dave.

Don't know if this will help or not, but UFRaw says they support Epson R-D1 Raw files and they are located here:
http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/Install.html
Program is free, runs on Windows, Mac, and various flavors of Linux. I use it with The Gimp constantly, but it is also a stand-alone program that will save in a variety of file types.
Might be worth a shot if you're desperate.

put the "epson"-folder with the plugin into the folder:
adobe photoshop cs(2)/"plugins" (or so, have German version)/file format
or
adobe photoshop cs(2)/plugins/adobe photoshop only/file format
(installation on a Mac, on windows should be similar)

Problem is that I cannot even get the plug-in file to extract when running setup.
The installation fails before it really does anything.
Can someone e-mail me the "*.8bi" plug-in file all by itself?

N.B. The stand-alone provides more options than the plug-in--i.e. in file output after conversion.

Well, dunno why but I was able to get the installation to work on one PC.
I manually copied the files over and everything is now working.
