Had a quick business trip to Lake Tahoe the other day and I snapped a few pics while I was up there. Absolutely gorgeous weather...

What a beautiful spot! You picked a good time of day to photograph it. I especially like the golden glow in the second and third photos.

Yes, the first shot was at about 9 AM and the other two were at sunset. Absolutely lovely place and the cabins up there make Gatlinburg, TN look like a slum.

I drove across USA back in 91' and found the Lake Tahoe area just breathtakingly beautiful. You have managed to capture the beauty of the place. I notice that the sun was higher on the sky when I was there in early June. I remember that it was very hot and the forrest very dry and people feared forrest fires. This was a just after Yellowstone burnt down.

I love the light in your pictures, and the colour, settings etc as well as your framing, but I do not understand why on earth you have included in pictures #3 so much beach that is totally ruined - other words come to mind - by car tracks.
Or do I see this wrong - flame me no problem - and in the USA there is no nature any more without omnipresent whitnesses of man and car in nature?
That can't be

Actually those were electric cart tracks. The hotel maintenance staff uses electric carts with off-road tires to sweep the beach for trash and debris. Tracks are the only thing they leave behind which is a small price to pay for a clean beach.
Yes, we do have pristine beaches here in the USA. However, any beach, lakeside, or other form of waterfront property that is not designated a wilderness will always have the imprint of Man on them.

Nice. Is it just me, or are the horizons crooked on intention, in all
three pictures ?

Thanks. Only, one wonders about a world where wilderness can only be wild when so, officially, designated. Not a nice thought!

Well done, young Padawan. You chose light from late, ( or early ) in the day, that added a warm, dramatic feel, and a lot of interest to these images. Most tourists and shutterbugs would have not been patient, shot photos in the mid-day sun, creating bland, contrasty images.

I blame the Book of Genesis. God told the man to name all of the things He had created. Obviously, He did this to give the man something to do.sanderva said:Thanks. Only, one wonders about a world where wilderness can only be wild when so, officially, designated. Not a nice thought!![]()
Thank you , my master. I waited till sunset to shoot the second and third photo whilst the first was shot in the morning around 8:30 AM.Rodinal Addict said:Well done, young Padawan. Not bad, Carlos.
You are in the right "business" if it takes you to places like that

if you've ever been there you would know that despite man (or Americans') presence the beauty of the place, the wild, the natural is in tact and is doing just fine. A track in the sand is just that. If you choose to look at a gorgeous photo of a gorgeous place and see a minor blemish, then maybe you need a vacation.

BTW, the Tahoe locals are VERY conscious and aware of preserving the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

Of course, and I just posted from a positive point of view. But you will agree that it gets more and more difficult to view and photograph pristine nature.
