Play between lens and body - is this bad?

I have the QL17 GIII and there is a very slight amount of play in it, and others have reported the same. It seems to have no ill effect.

I haven't had it apart far enough to see what's causing it, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

I had a Yashica Electro 35 GS with a slight lens wobble. No effect at all on the photos - but then I didn't perform stringent tests either.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
There shouldn't be very much play at all between the lens itself and the body. However, it is usual and common to find an element of play between The metal barrel around the lens element and the body is all the rangefinders like this. It is a function of the way they are constructed and the fact that all the controls are mounted in the outer housing that causes it.
