So:

I notice when wearing my M6 around my neck, that the strap on the left rubs occasionally against the film wind knob, which has some loose freedom to it. Does/can this cause any problems?

If you like, I can call you a moron, but that either won't cause much problems to your film, as did your little "adventure"... :)

I can not miss this free kick:
You are moron.
That felt good.
Now go and use your camera...I am going to do the same.
Cheers

Sounds bad to me! - before major, expensive problems arise I would pass the camera on, and perhaps invest in a Canon G10,-or similar, where no such issues would trouble you
Dave.

This forum is international, here is my german reply:

Du bist ein Schwachkopf! (literally: "You are a weak head")

:))

No, there is no rewind button problem. If it were there, there would be thousand of posts about it since decades ("Which belt avoids the rewind button disaster?")...

And it does not even affect the "Bokeh" :)

The knob only engages the rewinding prongs when it is pulled up, you can twiddle with it as you like when it is down.

So you are telling me that I can't hold Leica responsible for all my accidental double-exposures? Well, at least I should be able to blame them for all that ugly bokeh. :p

Ti si edin tapanar! that's Bulgarian.

Just imagine someone had posted something like that:
"The strap/rewind button friction - "SRBF" -is one of the well kept secrets of the Leica community it rarely affects shooting but if it happens then it has disastrous effetcs. Due to SRBF Hillary had to use a prewar Retina 118 (the rare Tessar version) instead of a Leica M."

I always thought that a "Moron" ismore on the violent side of things.
I would have called you rather overprotective like "you going to play in the park? Don't forget your helmet , and your knee protectors!

Love the responses!!

You know, my last camera (besides my Hawkeyes) was a Canon FTB which i inherited from my father so my paranoia I can only explain like taking my new car out for a spin but driving five mph everywhere...

You're not a moron!

You're not a moron!

merely an eccentric thinker! ;)

One obvious solution suggests itself. Get rid of the neckstrap and get the Leicagoodies sling! That way you can worry about accidentally hitting the film reverse lever, the lens release button, or (heaven forfend!) loosening the battery door! :D

As I read the rules around here, I can't call you a moron, you need to do that yourself...

But it seems you have received a good amount of suggestions here, so you were obviously smart enough to come here for advice, so that makes you smarter than the average bear.

Enjoy your M6
