how often do you r-d1 shooters use polarizers? do you wish you could do it easier, and when? or is it unnecessary most of the time?

Actually, how do you shoot with a polarizer and a rangefinder?
For the mamiya 7 there is an accessory that moves the filter from the viewfinder to the lens (of course without rotating it), what do you do for the RD-1 (apart from holding the filter with your hand that does not seem extremely practical)?

the same system as for mamiya is also available from leica, works same way

Hmm, considering it's a Leica accessory I expect it to cost as much as the RD-1 itself :D

doesn't sound like anybody uses one. how do your shots outdoors in the sun turn out? any problems with blown hilights from glare? light skies? how about color?

Sure... I use one sometimes

Sure... I use one sometimes

I've done this a few ways...

Sometimes I carry one in my pocket, preview it at the right angle and hold it in front of the lens, for snapshots. Or, if I'm doing a setup shot with tripod (rare for me) I will remove then reattach it.

Most of the time in a quick pinch, I just look for good light and if I have a polarizer mounted, I take a few shots at various rotations and take the best one!

I'm not a RD1 owner, so I'll probably be flamed off this forum :p , but have you considered the B&W "Polarizer Software" ? You can download a trial copy from their website. It didn't really work for me, but maybe somebody else, who is better in driving a computer than I am can get more satisfactory results, as the reviews were quite good.
