Hello all,

my dig.cam. stopped working (partly ?)...

here are two shots, one with flash (this one seems OK ? )
and one without flash ( for sure not OK ).

Can anybody help in identifying the error, or level of damage?
Can it be repaired ?
Video seems to work OK.

Thanks.

To be very truthful, consumer point and shoot digital cameras are nearly impossible to repair, because they're electronic devices first and cameras second.

And the cost of repair often can be higher or equal to the value of the camera.

Plus, if you take it apart without knowing what you're doing, you could cause damage. And you could potentially be hit with a fairly strong electrical current when you inadvertently and/or unknowingly touch the solder points for the flash unit.

I think the advice that you will receive is to return it, if it's still under warranty. Or buy another, if it's outside of warranty.

Digital cameras are meant to be replaced, not repaired.

Thanks for replay ZeissFan,
what you are saying is ("politically" ?) correct, but I was expecting something else, some information about level of damage (mech.?, elect.? opti.? ). I presume, for start - to open camera (or digital camera), I need to have good (very good) toolset for precision mechanic - if I want to assemble it again :). But this was not my intention, I was just collecting information ( not wrong forum ?) , and searching for repair service (in Croatia). Well I did found one - their mail gives positive signs.
Once more,
Thanks

What price can be expected for a good "precision mechanic" toolset ?
What tools are needed/required for repair/diagnose:
- of mech. damage?
- opti. damage?
- elec. damage?
Or it is just module exchange ?
Manufacturers (of toolsets) ?
