 bought two packs of polaroid 600 film on ebay with the expiring date "11/2008" and I didn't pay much attention when I received it. When I tried to use it today, the box shows expiring date "05/2003". While I tired to take some photos...funny thing happened, the battery died and films won't come out. gee, poor me, I don't even know what to do with them now. :(

I've used 600 and Spectra film up to 3 years out-of-date with "mixed results". The developer starts to lose viscosity, and development is uneven. Colors vary. Five-years out of date, I would not use it.

Peel-apart film fares better.

Sounds like my kind of luck. Hope you didn't pay too much. Concerning 35mm film I buy out of date film at a camera store where they have bins full of it. I have had good results with Konica film from way back 2002. They have bulk rolls of T Max, year or two out of date for $25.00. While I guess thats a good deal i'm kind of scared to buy any of it, mainly because it has not been refrigerated.

long expired polaroid is much worse than regular 35mm film...the chemical has dried out and battery dies in the pack. There is nothing i can do...
seller denies everything...gee, poor me. i just bought another 20 fresh packs from someone and hopefully they are good as described.......

I haven't used a polaroid in ages, but maybe you could take a good battery from an empty polaroid cartridge and use that somehow?

I have sucessfully revived an old TimeZero pack with a dead battery by removing the battery from a used pack and sliding it under the dead pack. It's very tight and I needed a pliars to remove the pack when I finished but it worked.

Watch out for out-of-date birth control pills too...

And don't make the mistake of doubling or tripling the dosage to compensate. Don't ask me how I know.
